This rambunctious animated comedy follows the Minions as they conquer Hollywood, unleash monsters and then band together to fix the mayhem. It's light, goofy and packed with slapstick, with Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges among the voices. PG and one of the most-screened titles this week, it's a reliable pick for younger kids and easygoing grown-ups.

The pups land on a dinosaur island and race to save it after Humdinger's mining triggers a volcano, meeting a stranded pup named Rex along the way. This animated adventure is aimed squarely at the youngest viewers and stays cheerful and simple throughout. PG and easy to find on screens this week.

A modern family moves to the countryside and finds a magical tree that whisks the children off to fantastical lands, rekindling their bond. This live-action family fantasy stars Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy and Nicola Coughlan, and suits kids and parents alike at PG. Screenings are very limited this week — only a handful of shows at a single venue, so book ahead if you want to see it.
